Operation Groundswell in Canada is one of the RECOFU’s key long-term partners as far as our international volunteer hosting program is concerned. RECOFU hosts Operation Groundswell’s early and later summer volunteers and also receives funding from Operation Groundswell to implement community-requested health and development projects.
Rotary Club of Crystal Palace & Norwood
The Rotary Club of Crystal Palace & Norwood in the UK is part of a worldwide organisation of more than 1.2 million business, professional and community leaders who provide humanitarian service and help build goodwill and peace in the world. Their partnership with RECOFU began in June 2011 and has been invaluable ever since.
RECOFU receives material and technical support from Mildmay Uganda for efficient and effective implementation of the organization’s activities.Mildmay Uganda has been instrumental in the training of RECOFU staff members. They have been trained in HIV/AIDS counseling, care and management. This has ensured efficiency and effectiveness in the provision of care and support to people living with HIV/AIDS in the community. In addition, Mildmay Uganda offers technical personnel and testing kits for the smooth running RECOFU’s community voluntary counseling and testing (VCT) sessions.
Gospel Life Church International
The Gospel Life Ministries have been one of the core sponsors of RECOFU ’s HIV/AIDS prevention and orphan support activities. RECOFU gratefully receives whatever financial support The Gospel Life Ministries can afford, in order to conduct HIV/AIDS prevention video shows, seminars and workshops, among other campaigns aimed at preventing the further spread of the virus among people of all age groups in the community. In addition, The Gospel Life Ministries provide us with some basic necessities, especially clothes for the orphans we support.
RECOFU receives support from the Ugandan Ministry of Health for HIV/AIDS prevention activities in local communities. In particular, the Ministry of Health supplies RECOFU with condoms, which are given out free of charge to the most at risk populations, especially urban motorcyclists (boda-bodas), sex workers, long distance truckers and cohabiting couples, among others. Not only has this contributed to the prevention of the further spread of HIV/AIDS and other STDs but it has also reduced the rate of unwanted pregnancies in the community. In addition, the Ministry of Health also provides us with Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials on HIV/AIDS prevention, care and management.
Kyosiga Community Christian Association for Development (KACCAD)
RECOFU works hand in hand with KACCAD in the implementation of community HIV/AIDS prevention interventions. KACCAD provides us with professional facilitators to assist us in runnin large-scale seminars and workshops, video shows and other HIV/AIDS prevention activities benefiting people in the local community.
Roofings Limited sponsors our community HIV/AIDS prevention activities, especially voluntary counseling and testing (VCT). RECOFU’s community voluntary counseling and testing sessions are sponsored by Roofings Limited with the aim of enabling people to know their HIV status as means of reducing the further spread of HIV in the community.
Straight Talk Foundation is instrumental in the provision of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials on HIV/AIDS, adolescent and sexual reproductive Health. RECOFU supplies Straight Talk materials to people in the community, especially its younger members(VCT). RECOFU’s community voluntary counseling and testing sessions are sponsored by Roofings Limited with the aim of enabling people to know their HIV status as means of reducing the further spread of HIV in the community.
Through the National Library of Uganda, Book Aid International donates textbooks to boost RECOFU’s community library, which benefits people of all education levels in the community.
Children International is also instrumental in boosting RECOFU’s community library as well as those of our partner schools in the community. Through the National Library of Uganda, RECOFU receives donations of text books from Children International. Some of the donated books are retained in our community library and other are distributed to our partner schools in the community.
Uganda Network of Aids Service Organizations (UNASO)
UNASO builds RECOFU’s internal capacity through training in organization management, HIV/AIDS counseling and care, among others. In addition to technical assistance, UNASO provides us with material support, especially training materials for the smooth running of HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support seminars/workshops which RECOFU often organizes in the community.
Young Empowered And Healthy (Y.E.A.H)
The Young Empowered And Healthy Campaign of the Uganda Aids Commission provides RECOFU with Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials on HIV/AIDS prevention for young people. RECOFU distributes these materials among young people, both in and out of school, to reduce the risk of contracting HIV.
RECOFU receives orphan scholarships from partner schools as a means of improving the livelihoods of vulnerable orphans affected/infected with HIV/AIDS in the community. The following schools/institutions provide scholarships to some of the orphans under RECOFU’s Orphan Care and Support Program:
In addition to scholarships, Namasuba College of Commerce sponsors some of RECOFU’s HIV/AIDS prevention campaigns, targeting the youth in the community.
